Armchair BEA is a virtual convention for those of us who are not able to attend the Book Expo America and the Book Blogger Convention that is happening this week in New York City. Instead, we get to remain in the comforts of our homes in our fuzzy slippers and discuss the blogging world, or maybe the slippers are just me. 🙂 I am looking forward to meeting new book bloggers this week!

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

My name is Sara! *waves* I might be known as ‘sarabara081’ to some of you as well. I actually hate that name. LOL So why do I still use it? Well, I picked it as a screen name as a teenager when I couldn’t think of anything to use. Since I hate change, I just continued to use it to make things easier to remember. Maybe someday I will change it though…

I am a mom of two boys, ages 5 and 2. I also watch a couple of kids at my house during the week, which keeps me pretty busy! When I am not chasing after them, I try to get in some reading. I just started blogging a couple of months ago after my friends harassed me about it for months! I have been reading YA books very regularly for about 2 years but always had a hard time writing reviews. I still struggle. Sometimes it is hard to put my thoughts down ‘on paper’ in a coherent way. LOL But I am working on it. I had been following a lot of book blogs for months and always thought it was something I would enjoy doing in my spare time. So here I am!! 🙂

2. What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?

I am currently reading UNBREAK MY HEART by Melissa Walker, which I just started so I am not very far along. My favorite book so far this year… probably a tie between INSURGENT by Veronica Roth and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green. The DIVERGENT series is absolutely becoming my all-time favorite. I adore the characters (FOUR!) as well as the writing and world building. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS is a book I will never forget. I cried buckets, and it killed me, but it was so worth it. It also has some of my all-time favorite quotes. Example:

“I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once.”

3. What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

HOGWARTS! I am not sure an explanation is even necessary! LOL I am a huge Harry Potter fan. HUGE! I used to reread the books over and over and will watch the movies whenever they are on tv. The magical world J.K. Rowling created was spectacular and I am bummed I never received my Hogwarts letter. 😉

4. What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?

I love having people to talk to who love the books I read as much as I do! Sometimes when you finish a good book you need someone to flail with and I love that I can find someone to do that with here. 🙂

5. Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

I am not sure if my tastes have changed too much but I am finding myself reading, and wanting to read, more and more contemporary fiction than I used to. Before I was more into the paranormal and dystopian genres, which I still love, they just seem to be taking somewhat of a backburner to contemps at the moment.

spare time? you have some with little ones in the house? lol
I ran an in-home daycare when my three daughters were little and loved it! they grow up far too quickly! glad you are able to escape by reading and blogging!

  2. Anna @ Literary Exploration

My reading tastes have definitely changed a bit since I started blogging. I find myself reading a lot more contemporary as well as indie books and books by smaller publishers. I definitely think blogging has opened my eyes a bit!

Hi Sarah. Those boys certainly can keep you busy. I started out mainly with dystopian and paranormal, but also find myself reading a lot more contemporary to. So many books, so little time 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I’m a bad blogger – I haven’t read Insurgent yet. I have it – just been so busy with commitments. This The Fault in our Stars intrigues me. I love the quote.

Thanks for visiting my intro today.

  7. Hannah Lorraine

Oh my goodness. That quote just made me melt a little <3 soooo adorable. Gah, I love John Green. I haven't read TFioS yet though, mostly because I'm terrified of the crying buckets part =)

  8. Peggy Marsiglio

I feel the same way about writing reviews… I always struggle to put my thoughts down on paper in a coherent way. Half the time I feel like I don’t make sense or I make the book sound boring!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I totally understand re: screenname… I’ve been using asherz86 since I started high school basically, and I still use it all the time, haha.

And I agree, reviews can be hard sometimes. I find it especially hard to write reviews for books that were just alright. It can be easy to gush when you love something or complain when you didn’t like it, but those inbetween ones are tough to categorize.

  10. Loretta @ Between The Pages

John Green *sigh* Now HE CAN WRITE! =D
Yes putting your words on paper (on screen ;]) is very complicated sometimes. I have been blogging for ‘almost’ 2 years and I STILL have a hard time writing them. I am in a writing slump as we speak which is not good, seeing as how I am not in a reading slump 😉
    I hope you enjoy ABEA!!

    Happy Reading

Hogwarts FTW!! Unbreak My Heart looks so good!
I’m scared to read The Fault in Our Stars!! I’m not sure I want to cry so much 🙁

I am about halfway through Unbreak My Heart and it has been good so far! You are definitely not alone about fearing the tears from The Fault in Our Stars. I hope some day you will give it a try! 🙂
