Today’s Armchair BEA discussion is about what sort of opportunities we hope to gain from blogging, as well as our personal blog goals within our blog.

I think as a new blogger I am still trying to get settled into a routine and figure things out so it is hard for me to really know what I want to get from my blogging experience just yet. I honestly never really considered monetizing but I could probably be open to that at some point in the distant future, when I have my feet more firmly on the ground so to speak. I know many blogs have affiliate accounts for sites such as Amazon on their blog. I really don’t know much about this at all. I am sure it is a great way to help with giveaways and I am probably going to be interested in this more later on.

I have no plans to extent my writing of reviews further from the blog. I still feel like such a rookie, like someone who is still trying to figure out their voice for reviewing. I am not sure if this is how I will always feel, but I am trying to work on improving my review writing with each book. I really enjoy this experience and like to keep it as something I do for fun, but also for a way to help get the word out about books I love!

Yesterday I talked about how I would love to meet up with others in my area who share a love for reading Young Adult books. That is definitely a goal I have in networking outside of the blog, but I also would love to meet more people online who share the same interest. That is a major goal of mine. Getting to talk to more bloggers, readers, authors, and publishers about these books I love is one of the main reasons I started blogging. I would also like to take part in more features like author and character interviews as well as blog tours. I recently took part in the Insanity Blog Tour and loved doing it! I will be on the lookout for more of those!

One of the main pieces of advice I have heard from other bloggers is to find a way to stand out. As someone who can be incredibly shy, I am usually okay with being somewhat blended into the background. And with hundreds and hundreds of book blogs out there, it is really easy to do that here too. I really don’t want that for my blog though. I would love to figure out what my niche is, something that makes my blog unique to me. I am not sure if I will ever figure that out, but it is definitely a long-term blogging goal of mine.

I also have a blog makeover scheduled for this summer that I am extremely excited about! Lea Christine Designs will be working on something for me and I am so excited to see what she comes up with!

That is really all I have for today’s post. I would love to hear the goals everyone else has for their blogs so please leave me a link to your Beyond the Blog post! And if you have any suggestions for me, please feel free to add it in a comment below! I leave you with a cute baby tiger. 🙂

I think you are doing the right thing in taking it slowly, and making sure you don’t get overwhelmed. Becoming an Amazon Affiliate is no big deal – very easy, especially if you already have an account with them. They make it easy to add book images to your posts, and it comes with a link for your readers to purchase it if they’d like.

It’s great to start slow and work up from there. Improving your reviewing is a good thing for newbies and oldies alike 🙂 I use Amazon mostly for the easy access to covers and links for my reviews, I make next to nothing. Hope you find your voice and niche, I think I’m still looking for mine 🙂

Awe, adorable baby tiger! 😀 And blog makeover’s are always awesome. Especially since they give your blog such a fresh feel and they make it so much more unique once you move beyond the blogger templates. I did a makeover myself a while back just because I didn’t want to see my blogger background on other blogs anymore. 😛 lol

And monetizing…oh I have no clue about that either. I’ve thought about it, and even tried it with Adsense for a while, but I just wasn’t all that into it, and it takes forever just to get anything at all. I think I had like $3 for almost six months. It was crazy. Although I’m sure if you paired it with SEO and all that kind of blog-traffic type stuff it might work better. 😛 lol

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I am so clueless about design stuff so I was sick of having a boring background and header. LOL I am really looking forward to seeing my blog have more personality.

I really don’t think I would make much either so I don’t see the point. I guess it could possibly change far into the future, but for now I have no interest.

      Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
