A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (2)

July 27, 2012 Book Covers, Cover Art, Judging a Book by its Cover, The Immortal Rules, Under the Never Sky 16

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 5 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

I was overwhelmed with the wonderful reactions to last week’s post! Shawn thought it was the coolest thing to see people responding so well to his pictures. We both thank you so much for all of your kind words. I think this week I’ll let him respond to comments himself, which could be quite fun too. 🙂

“Somebody goes into a forest to look for stuff that is strange that they have never seen.”

Cover Art:

“This book is about somebody who is getting hurt by traps that are trying to hurt her. And then she has to go to the hospital.”

Cover Art:

Cute, right? I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Let me (and Shawn) know what you think! 🙂

How did I miss last week’s?! I will go see it right after this one.

Aww, I love it!! I think it’s awesome how everyone sees different things based on covers, and seeing a kid’s perspective is probably the best, because I find people are more creative and honest when they’re younger.

Love the 2nd pic especially… it’s almost cute and yet so sad and lonely feeling.

Awwwr, adorable! Such great pictures. I love the description for the Immortal Rules, “And then she has to go to the hospital”

I can’t wait to see more of these awesome pictures!!
