Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
As a woman in her 30’s who loves to read Young Adult fiction, sometimes I need something a little… spicier? Something that focuses on the love and romance between characters and not just the coming of age aspects that are so common in Young Adult reads. The new wave of books in the ‘New Adult’ genre is quite perfect for me.
When I first read the premise of Losing It, I knew it was something I had to check out. The idea of forbidden love has always intrigued me, in any genre, contemporary or paranormal. A college girl who may have developed feelings for a professor? Definitely for me!
Losing It starts right off with Bliss and her friend preparing for a night out so Bliss can find someone to lose her virginity with. Do people really do this? I have no idea. Seems a little peculiar to me. But we are quickly introduced to the incredibly swoony BRITISH Garrick. I was instantly enamored with him. Seriously, he sweeps her off her feet and away on his motorcycle. *fans self* Things quickly turn hot, which I honestly did not expect so soon. But I loved it because I was instantly hooked, and then things slowed down into a plot that kept me turning the pages and characters I adored. There was so much humor added with Bliss and her quirky behavior. A lot of times I will find this annoying in a character but I absolutely loved her! She was silly, awkward, and flustered often. She let her nerves get the best of her quite a lot that often led her to open her mouth and say the most ridiculous things, but she was just so damn adorable! The chemistry between Bliss and Garrick was so profound. The way they discover quirks about each other and act according to those, I just loved. The ending? Perfection, in my opinion. It made me smile so big and want to immediately start right over.
I STRONGLY recommend this novel to fans of romance. The characters are wonderful and it will leave you smiling!
