Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart.
Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’
I cannot express to you how amazing it is to have a sequel to jump into right after you finish a novel. As soon as I finished reading Slammed, I was eager to continue with Layken and Will’s story and dived right into Point of Retreat!
This time around, we are hearing the story from Will’s point of view. I was ecstatic for this! It added a fresh look on the characters as we continue their journey. But I do have to say, I wish it felt more like a 22 year old male’s point of view. I was craving something a little grittier and more realistic than what I got from him, but it still all came together just right.
Will and Layken’s love is once again put to the test and once again I was hooked from beginning to end. Little details to their story made me smile, like the vase of inspirational quotes. Of course there were amazing poetry slams that touched me and even MORE amazing secondary characters that were added to the fold! Fiesty little Kristen was butterflying awesome (you will understand that when you read) and always good for a laugh! This author has a true talent with character development. Point of Retreat also had a lot going on for the character’s, much like Slammed, but it doesn’t slow us down from growing attachments to each and every one of them.
I thought this was a great follow up novel. It didn’t quite live up to the love I had for the first, but I still highly recommend this series!
