A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (8)

November 2, 2012 Book Covers, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Facing Demons, Judging a Book by its Cover, The Way We Fall 5

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 5 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“I think it’s about a river that is above land. The water is brown because the sky is turning black because it’s nighttime.”

Cover Art:

“I think The Way We Fall is about a girl who is walking and comes to a hill that is tall. There is a river and an island below it. And there is a ship near the island.”

Cover Art:

Lots of water type thoughts for Shawn this week! Sadly, I have not read either of these yet! I must soon so I can see how close he was. I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week. Let me (and Shawn) know what you think! 🙂

I haven’t read the real The Way We Fall yet, but I kinda want to read Shawn’s version now. I wonder where the ship will take her…
