A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (21)

February 8, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Crash, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Lisa McMann 8

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“I think Crash is about somebody who is looking at fire and it’s on the ground so you can see it in her eye because she is right in front of the fire, looking at it.”

**My 2 year old decided he wanted to give me an answer as well this week. He said, “Pretty eye. I want read. Fire. HOT!” hehe

I might have to have my little one give his opinion more often! lol I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! 🙂

Love that your 2yo wanted to contribute, too! So adorable. For some reason, Katie doesn’t like to do the covers with big eyes on them. Go figure. 🙂

Haha, that’s so cute! I remember how my little cousins would point to random animals on a picture book and ask me what those are, even when they can’t pronounce the name. I love how colours symbol to them, like red is fire/angry and yellow is the sun etc. Thank you for sharing, Shawn’s contributions always make my day 😀
