A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (22)

February 15, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Laini Taylor 10

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“I think it’s about somebody who is in a house and the fireplace has a fire with smoke coming out of the chimney. There are bones in the fire to make it grow. The person in the house is wearing a mask as a disguise with a blue bug camouflaged on it.”

Cover Art:
(My paperback has a slightly different cover than shown above. It’s more of a half face.)

He thinks the ligher blue spot on the middle of the nose part of the mask is a bug. hehe I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! ๐Ÿ™‚
