A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (23)

February 22, 2013 Book Covers, Bruised, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Sarah Skilton 7

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“This is about somebody who got a trophy for best karate person that was getting trained by a karate teacher. But he dropped it and it broke into pieces.”

Cover Art:

Shawn just had to do this cover when he saw it! This was actually his second drawing. He has become very obsessed with how the pictures come out. My little perfectionist. lol I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! 🙂

That is an interesting cover. I haven’t heard of this book before. I would guess from the cover that it would be about a karate championship. My brother got a bunch of those types of trophies when he was in karate.

Haha…Katie’s a little perfectionist, too. 🙂 When she’s having trouble, she makes me draw it and then she attempts it again on her own. She just likes a little guidance at times. 🙂 I love his description, too…it made me go back and look at the cover because I didn’t even notice that it was a trophy. D’oh! 😛
