Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

– Grab your current read
– Open to a random page
– Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
– BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
– Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

From Goodreads:

They say first love never dies…

From critically acclaimed author Kate Ellison comes a heartbreaking mystery of mental illness, unspoken love, and murder. When sixteen-year-old artist Olivia Tithe is visited by the ghost of her first love, Lucas Stern, it’s only through scattered images and notes left behind that she can unravel the mystery of his death.

There’s a catch: Olivia has gone colorblind, and there’s a good chance she’s losing her mind completely—just like her mother did. How else to explain seeing (and falling in love all over again with) someone who isn’t really there?

With the murder trial looming just nine days away, Olivia must follow her heart to the truth, no matter how painful. It’s the only way she can save herself.

The Teaser:

I stare at Stern’s hands wrapped around my own but still separate, not there, not whole… and I ache more than ever for him to be solid, to be able to pull him into me for real and kiss his warm, solid, living mouth one more time, two more times, a million more times.
“Wake up,” I whisper to him, feeling suddenly like it really might be possible. “Wake up and be alive.”   pg. 166

I am in love with the scene this snippet has been taken from. So sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. The whole novel has been a really great balance of everything I love in a read. I look forward to finishing it! Oh, and Notes from Ghost Town is out today, so go pick up a copy!

I love the scene so much. So sad.
I went looking for John Green’s first book – Looking for Alaska. I thought I was reading a boy at a boarding school up until I ended up being emotionally wrung out and left to dry.
