**Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish.**
This is such a fun topic this week that I had to join in! I love so many authors but here are a few that I must check out with each new novel!
Stephanie Perkins is the wonderful author of Anna and the French Kiss as well as Lola and the Boy Next Door. I absolutely adored both of these contemporary reads. The characters were a delight and I fell in love with all of them. I am super excited for Isla and the Happily Ever After later on this year and to see what she can do with a horror novel next year!
I was a little apprehensive to read The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend at first, but once I did I found characters that felt like real teens to me. Like kids I would have known in High School. Shut Out was another must-read that had the same realistic teenage feel. Even though I haven’t had the chance to pick up A Midsummer’s Nightmare, I have a good feeling that Kody will knock my socks off once again!
She knew just how to break my heart and make me swoon with the A Need So Beautiful series. She is also so sweet and fun to talk to on twitter! The Program comes out in April and I of course added it straight away to my TBR. It has such an intriguing premise and I have been dying to read it! She also is part of a collab with Cat Patrick later on this year. Also a must-read for me!
Once upon a time I entered a giveaway for Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver on a blog for an upcoming author. I enjoyed reading her posts and occasionally talking to her on twitter. She also came up with these super fun contests that were not only fun for me, but something my husband enjoyed playing along with. Then the most awesome thing happened, I read and loved her book! Venom was absolutely one of my favorite reads last year! It was mysterious and sexy and so much more than I expected. I was excited to hear she would have a contemporary novel come out in 2014 titled The Art of Lainey, under the pen name Paula Stokes.
My love affair with J.M. Darhower started with fanfiction and has reached over into her published work, Sempre. This woman could write the phone book and I would read it. She does dialogue like no one else and is so good at making me laugh one minute and sob the next. I hang onto every word and so look forward to what she has in store for us in the future.
Umm, this was a no-brainer. The Divergent series has easily become one of my all-time favorite series. I absolutely plan to immediately fangirl and squee with delight with each new project she has planned for the future.
I love this world of shadowhunters and downworlders she has created. I love the prequel series, The Infernal Devices, and of course all of The Mortal Instrument novels. I know there is a new one in the works as well but I also can’t wait to see how she does outside of this world. The Magisterium series, written with Holly Black, sounds like a lot of fun and I look forward to the change of pace.
So I’ve only read Shatter Me by this author. If I don’t get a chance to read Unravel Me in the next couple weeks I swear I am locking myself in my room away from real life until I do! But her writing is so beautiful and poetic. I just can’t get enough of it. And omg she is so fun and adorable on twitter! (her mom too)
I know this may seem a little cliche, but I bow down to the greatness of this woman. Even though The Casual Vacancy sounds nothing like what I usually read or even remotely what I like, I know I have to try it some day. It’s J.K. Rowling! She gave us Harry Potter, to which I will always be grateful.
I really enjoy a good creepy novel that keeps me on my toes! Gretchen McNeil is awesome at providing that! I loved Possess and Ten so much and cannot wait for her fall novel, 3:59 to come out! This one sounds to be a slightly different but her books are definitely on my must-read list!
The Unearthly series just wrapped up but I already cannot wait to see what else this author has in store! I’m pretty sure the love triangle killed me dead in that series with two amazing swoony boys, but it will go down in my list of all-time favorite series. Her next book is pegged as a YA contemp with a twist and I am already sold!
Seems I forgot how to count again. Oops. 😉 It is so hard to make this list because I just know that there are many more who will be joining these ranks throughout the year. I’m really looking forward to that. What authors are on your auto-buy list? Links if you got ’em!
