A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (26)

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“Someone is using keys to open a door and they can’t find the right key so they try over and over. Then they find the right key and go into the house.”

Cover Art:

So I totally JUST noticed the face in the background of this cover as I was putting this post together. lol This is another week of letting Shawn head over to the bookshelves and pick all by himself. He first asked if Hush, Hush (last week’s post) had any other books but changed his mind when he saw it was a girl on the cover. He seems to steer clear of those ones. lol Anyways, I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! 🙂

Really great drawing. Shawn did an awesome job on the keys 🙂 That is creepy about the face. All I can see is an eye and a nose, but I never noticed that before either.

Oh my goodness, this feature makes my face hurt I’m smiling so much. So adorable! And aaah, wow, that is a creepy, ghostly looking face! I did not notice that until just now. Clearly I had keys on the brain every time I looked at this too. 🙂

Oh my gosh–I never noticed the face on this cover either! I listened to it (well, half) in audiobook but I have seen the actual book many times, too. HMM. What else have I missed?!

I love this feature so much, as always. Shawn’s interpretation could be taken as a spot-on metaphor, hah.

Oh, that’s awesome…I didn’t notice the face either! I’ve only read Graceling in this series, but I’m thinking of getting all the audio and starting over. Love Shawn’s artwork and his interpretation, too, as always!
