A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (27)

March 22, 2013 Book Covers, Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, The Infernal Devices 13

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“This is about a girl in a building who came out and started reading this book that’s shining out of it because she never read it before. The pages are very shiny. And then she went back inside the building to fix the clock.”

Cover Art:

I love how the building and bridge in the background of Shawn’s drawing makes Tessa look like an angel. This book killed me this week! I have still not recovered. Such a wonderful series that will forever remain a favorite.

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! πŸ™‚

I thought Shawn’s drawing made Tessa look like an angel, too. πŸ™‚ I am right in the middle of this one and I’m already gutted. I can’t imagine how I’m going to feel when it’s all over. Thanks for not posting any spoilers, Shawn! πŸ˜›

Totally need to read this series. I have it on audio, which I tend to never finish “listening” to books. This one was so cute! I didn’t notice the wings until you mentioned it, but it’s clear as day now lol πŸ™‚

Aww this is so cute!!! Yeah the cover is shiny so the book must be too. Great really πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to see his opinion on other books πŸ™‚

I love the idea that new books are shiny because we haven’t read them πŸ™‚ Just got this book and cannot wait to start it! But I don’t want it to end πŸ™

I love Shawn’s drawing! I also love that the book is shining because Tessa hadn’t read it before. That is totally how I feel when opening a new book, like it’s shining at me. So adorable! This had got to be my favorite blog feature ever. πŸ™‚
