A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (28)

March 29, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Eleanor and Park, Judging a Book by its Cover, Rainbow Rowell 16

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“This is about a boy and a girl who are listening to a story on an airplane because they’re bored. And the kind of story they’re listening to is a story about what happened to some people at the beach.”

Cover Art:

Shawn thought the name of the book was ‘Rainbow Rowell’ He went all “Ohhhhhhhhh” when I showed him it was Eleanor and Park. Then he noticed the ‘&‘ symbol and wouldn’t stop talking about how he missed it. lol

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! :)

I did another of my version of this today, and I swear these posts are the most fun to share. Your son is adorable and I think he drew the & sign better than I could have. :/ Hey, the title being ” Rainbow Rowell” makes sense-maybe two people named Eleanor and Park co-wrote it! :)

Hahahahaha, this is awesome. I like that they’re listening to a novel about the beach. Also, I can see where Rainbow Rowell seemed like the title, since it does sort of look like “A Novel” is modifying that, rather than Eleanor and Park.

Love it! On an airplane makes sense, wonder what lead him to the story they are listening to being about people on the beach. Love the inner workings of a child’s mind. His artwork really is great.
