One Year Blogoversary Celebration + Giveaway! Take One

March 28, 2013 Blogoversary, Giveaway, signed books 100

It’s my Blogoversary!

One year ago today, I sat on my couch and wrestled with the idea of starting my very own book blog. I had spent the 6 months beforehand following a whole bunch of great blogs and was reading plenty of books. A few friends thought it was a great idea and encouraged me, so here we are! It is so hard to believe it has been a year already. I have met so many incredible bloggers and readers and I want to thank everyone who follows, comments, lurks, etc. for helping Forever 17 Books be what it is today. xoxo

So for the next few days, I have a few giveaways planned. Some are US only or US/CAN only, BUT there will be one for my International readers as well.

This first giveaway I have been SUPER EXCITED to tell you guys about for months! Seriously, that is how long I’ve been planning it. I don’t really live in the prime location for any type of author signings or events BUT there is something I discovered last year called The Rochester Teen Book Festival. I wish you could have seen my face when I found this gem while feeling hopeless that I would ever get to meet any of these amazing authors of the books I love. (If you want to know more about this event, you can see my posts from the 2012 event HERE and HERE! So I thought this would be the perfect setup for an awesome giveaway!

There are about 30 authors set to attend this event on May 18th 2013. That’s right, I said THIRTY! I stalked the website almost every week, watching the author list grow and grow. So what I am offering TWO lucky US winners is the chance to pick a book by one of the following authors for me to get PERSONALIZED to YOU! Sound good? My biggest problem has been that there are SO MANY authors I want to see and books I want signed but I have to narrow it down a bit for fear I won’t have time for them all. So here is the list you can choose from (sorry for not linking to Goodreads):

Lisa McMann –
The Dream Catcher series ~ Crash ~ Dead to You ~ The Unwanteds

David Levithan-
Every Day ~ The Lover’s Dictionary ~ Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist ~ Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares ~ Invisibility
Marissa Meyer-
Cinder ~ Scarlet
Jennifer E. Smith-
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight ~ This is What Happy Looks Like ~ You Are Here ~ The Comeback Season
Lauren DeStefano-
Wither ~ Fever ~ Sever

Margaret Stohl-
Beautiful Creatures ~ Beautiful Darkness ~ Beautiful Chaos ~ Beautiful Redemption ~ Icons

Robin LaFevers-
Grave Mercy ~ Dark Triumph
Dan Krokos – Gennifer Albin – Alexandra Bracken-
False Memory ~ Crewel ~ The Darkest Minds

*If for some reason I don’t mention a book by the author above but it is reasonably priced, I can get it for you instead of those listed. I just didn’t want to take the time to list everything they’ve written above.

Honestly, there are A LOT more authors I plan to see, but I am terrified I won’t get enough time to see them all so I just listed a few I am definitely making the time for! Lots to choose from, right?

**Reminder: The event is May 18th, so even though the giveaway ends weeks beforehand, the books will not be mailed to the winners until the week after the event.

Giveaway Rules:

1. Giveaway is US only! (So sorry International followers but I do have something for you tomorrow!)
2. Must be at least 13

years old to enter.
3. Winner has 48 hours to respond or another winner will be selected.
4. I am not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.
5. Please follow the entry directions in the rafflecopter. (I do check and will delete entries that do not follow the directions. If you have any questions on how to enter, please ask!)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Once again, thank you to all the wonderful readers, bloggers and authors who have made this past year so much fun! Here’s hoping for another great year! Don’t forget to stop back over the next few days for more giveaways. :)

  3. Ashley @ Book Labyrinth

Congrats on 1 year, lady!! So awesome!

I’m so excited for TBF! If all goes well I’ll be making the trip down again, so we should definitely go to dinner or something. Also I should really email you for a hotel rec. *tries to remind self*

    First of all, CONGRATS :D
I once met Andrea Cremer, Marie Lu, and Meg Cabot. I also didn’t think I would ever meet an author because I don’t live nearby any author signings so I was super excited to meet them. It was so much fun meeting them and getting my books signed and of course taking pictures with them :D I would love to win a copy of Scarlet.

  6. Natalie Aguirre

OMG, I wish I lived in Rochester. I do have relatives there and wish I could go visit them to go to this festival. I am going to book signings locally and discovered that Carrie Harris lives in my town. Congrats on your blogversary! I can’t believe you’ve only been doing it for one year.

    I’d love Dark Triumph.

  7. Jenna D.

Happy Blogoversary! It really is such an exciting time, isn’t it? Call me crazy, but I actually thought you had been around longer! Silly me. :)

  8. Laurie Rosengren

Congratulations on your anniversary! Great books for the giveaway. I would choose Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers because I adored Grave Assassin. Thanks for the contest!

  9. Kat C @ Books and Sensibility

Ugh, I am SO jealous you get to meet David Levithan ! I only saw him briefly at BEA when he was opening books for Maggie Steifvater.

Congrats on your blogaversary ! Doesn’t it feel great ? I love your Friends gifs.

  10. Becca

Happy Blogoversary!!! So exciting that you’ve reached a year *clinks champagne glasses* Thanks for the wonderful giveaway, you’re so sweet, and I’m really glad I found your blog many months ago! It’s become one of my favorites (and most frequently stalked!)

  11. Ashley Rogers

Congrads on your blogoversary first of all! OMG this is a really awesome and generous giveaway! I would personally LOVE a signed copy of Grave Mercy!! That would be out of this world! I have not been to any event sadly since I live in the middle of no where lol. I wish you the best of luck in future blogging and thank you deeply for your generosity!

  12. Paula Stokes

Just wanted to say Happy Blogoversary and enjoy the book festival! *pets tiger* I come here sometimes when you’re not looking just to pet the tiger :) He’s my favorite of all the blog mascots.

  13. Born Bookish

Happy one year Blogoversary!!! =D Have a great time at the book festival!! Not many author come around where I live either so I haven’t met very many BUT I’ve decided to go to BEA this year so I’m super, SUPER excited about that! I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what authors are going to be there!

  14. laceyblossom

    Congrats and Happy Blogoversary!!
I’d choose This Is What Happy Looks Like or The Dark Triumph because I’m so excited to read them!

  15. Candace

    WOW! Congratulations!
That event sounds like it’s going to be EPIC!
I was lucky enough to make it to ALA but I didn’t know half the authors that were going to be there that were there so there was lots of good surprises. I also just attended the Cassie Clare event where I not only helped with the audience but also got to be the camera guy for an interview afterward on her bus.
Picking a book from this list would be hard but I’m going to say Beautiful Redemption since I haven’t got it yet and I have all her others signed (though I’ve never met them, others got them signed for me).

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. erin

Happy Blogoversary! Thanks for sharing and here’s wishing you many, many more :) I love your blog and I’m so glad that I found it! I look forward to each new post! Man… hard to pick… But I’d have to say Marissa Meyer or Lisa McMann

  17. Desiree

Happy, happy blogoversary! I am so glad that we have been able to hang out on Twitter lately. You are one awesome chica! I LOVE your 6 year old’s interpretations of book covers, it is one of my favorite things on your blog! If I won, I think that I would have to pick Dark Triumph. I don’t live anywhere near book signings (the closest is always about 5 hours away from me) so getting signed books is always super rad! Thanks for the giveaway and the fantastic blog posts and reviews!

  18. jarkin33

Congrats on one year Sara!!! And looking forward to another year of Forever 17!!! I has the chance to meet Lisa McManna and she is lovely! I totally know what you mean though about events never being near! You def have to take advantage when they are! Sounds like you have an incredible day planned!

  20. Faith

    Congratulations on your blogoversary! :)
I’d pick Beautiful Creatures ♥ And no, I haven’t been in any great events lately and I unfortunately live halfway round the world from my most favorite authors so I’m afraid I’m losing hope that I’ll ever get to meet them, haha :)

  21. Kamla L.

  28. Shelver506

Holy cow! How do you have so many awesome books? I’m so jealous.

  30. Jessie

Happy Blogoversary! Happy Blogoversary! Thank you so much for the giveaway! Though I haven’t read the first book in either series (they are however sitting in on my shelf laughing at me because of this fact), I would choose either Dark Triumph or Scarlet.

  31. Evette Torres

Congrats on you Blogoversary! Man I’m hugely jealous you get to go this festival. I live in an are where I have to drive really far for any book signings so I never really get to go to any. But to go to a festival is so freakin awesome! You are so lucky! Have bunches of fun when your there! Thanks for the giveaway. :D

  32. Jaime Lester

Happy Blogoversary! Unfortunately, I have not gone to any events lately. My last and only one was Y’allfest in November, which I loved. I live in the worst place for book events. It is sad really! And as far as the book I would choose, it would be between Icons and Dark Triumph. Thanks for the giveaway!

  33. Amanda

Happy Blogoversary! If I won, I would pick Beautiful Redemption or Scarlet. The only event I have attended recently is Monster Jam. My kids love going. I am hoping to go to a MLB game soon.

  34. starryeyedjen

Happy Blogoversary!!! So many good ones to choose from…I can’t make a decision on that right now. :P I’m going to the Victoria Scott signing tomorrow night…I am sooo excited. All of a sudden, it seems like there are a ton of authors debuting from Dallas. Good for me!!! :D Thanks for the giveaway!

  35. Skye

Happy blogoversary!!! May there be many more to come. :)

I would probably choose Grave Mercy – I’ve heard it’s REALLY good. I hope you have a TON of fun at the festival and get to meet all the authors you want to!

    Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  36. Lauren @ Love is not a triangle

Happy Birthday to your Blog! And what a cool event! I love meeting authors, but haven’t had the chance to interact with so many at once. I really want to read the Chemical Garden series though. I keep hearing so much about it. I am going to BEA this year. I’m excited but also overwhelmed about meeting all those authors and bloggers!!

  37. Sierra

Happy blogoversary! You have a great blog and I hope you stick around for some more anniversaries :D I would probably choose Scarlet :)

  42. Christina

Oh my gosh, this is AWESOME. I think I would pick Dark Triumph, but so many great books to choose from!

I am going to an event coming up soon at the end of the month that is hosting Lauren Oliver, Antony John, and Lenore Appelhans. So I’m excited :-) But I wish I could go to BEA and some of those other huge events that are not coming to St, Louis :-(

  45. Sophia Rose

I live away from any cities so I don’t see myself getting a chance to go to any festivals, conventions or signings, but I want to go at least one time some day.

Happy Blogoversary and congrats on finding such an awesome festival. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity. If I won, I’d pick Scarlet by Marissa Meyers.

  52. Sunny Duvall

AWESOME giveaway and congrats! Well, I would probably pick Robin LaFevers, because she’s AMAZING. Anything, you say? Well, my day has been good so far. I woke up and it’s dreadful where I live, but I still went out and exercised…wait, about books? I’m reading Unravel Me right now and the only bright spot is Kenji, I cannot wait for Warner to come pop up! He’s been mentioned and seen by Juliette, but I hear that around chapter 75 it gets really spicy. I’m pretty much dying until then.

Have I ever told you that you are seriously one of my favorite bloggers? You are. So I’m SO thankful this is happening because I can’t imagine the blogging community without you. It would be very sad. I love love love your blog so thank you for all you do!
