Top Ten Tuesday (8): Series I’d Like to Start But Haven’t Yet

March 5, 2013 Series I'd Like to Start But Haven't Yet, Top Ten Tuesday 51

**Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish.**

Sooooo, I’m pretty sure there are a TON of series I still need to start, though what I find to be my main problem is that I start a lot of series and then fall behind in them when new installments are released. *sigh* More time in the day is needed. But anyways… here is a list of a few series I really need to read ASAP!

1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I don’t really have a good excuse. I think I was intrigued by the premise at first but didn’t see it as something I HAD to read. But as the reviews came in, I realized that I definitely needed to give it a chance. I do have the first book, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

I cannot miss out on this one. Another example where I own the first book, just need the time to read them all. Huge bonus, the series is complete! (Still a little sad about this cover makeover)

I honestly have not looked up or even seen many reviews for these, but I LOVE how cool the covers are and the setting is in Sicily! I’ve had Arcadia Awakens in my priority pile for months and still haven’t gotten to it. *sigh*

I honestly never heard of these books until Bloodlines was set to release. And then it seemed it was EVERYWHERE and I felt like I was missing out on something really huge! I should probably start from the beginning and check these books out.

On my TBR list for quite some time, I remember meaning to read Spellbound when it was released. A friend of mine LOVED the book and told me I had to read it. And then I just never got the chance. She told me I had to have this one on my list. lol

I’m not ashamed to admit that it was the hot guy on the cover with wings that drew this one to my attention. 😉 I remember seeing the first book at the bookstore a long time ago, back when I first starting really getting into reading again. I quickly wrote down the title and author to look up on my brand new Goodreads account, where it has sat on my TBR list ever since.

I know the sequel just came out, but I promised myself I would read Cinder and Scarlet before the author comes to town in May and time just keeps ticking away…

Because I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t read them? Also Pepe…

I’ve heard nothing but good things about these books. Catching Jordan is on my nook and I’m hoping this summer might be the perfect time to catch up!

I want to read these so bad! Jen at YA Romantics sent me an ARC of Storm last year and I still have not gotten to it. 🙁 It’s another that’s been on my priority list for too long.

I’m tacking this one on the end, even though the second book isn’t out yet. MUST, MUST, MUST read Shadow and Bone soon!

That’s my list! It makes me very sad and a little depressed, to be honest. Dear Publishers, can we have a month off of new releases so I can read all of these, please? If only, right? 🙂 What series have you been meaning to start? Links if you got ’em!

You still haven’t started VA! But you must..really 🙂 It’s such an amazing story. Well your first and second pick should be on my list too! Also Cinder and Shadow and Bone are both on my list! 🙂 Great picks 🙂

  2. Natalie Aguirre

Great choices. I haven’t read anything by Richelle Mead either and am thinking I should. The Across the Universe series, Cinder, and Shadow and Bone are really good. Hope you can check them out.

  3. Christina / Book Addict

I also have Shadow and Bone and Smoke and Bone. I need to make time for both series, b/c I heard they are fantastic. I love the Vampire Academy series- I hope you find time to read it…it’s definitely one of my favorites! I want to read The Hundred Oaks series too- I read Catching Jordan and need to read the other two. Great list!

Great list! I want to read Shadow and Bone too! I have Vampire Academy on my list, my co-blogger really enjoyed the series I just have a looming pile of books to get through 🙂

I LOVE Cinder, I just finished re-reading it and started Scarlet.

Ahhhhh, there are so many good ones on here! The Hundred Oaks books particularly, though that could be just because I finished Things I Can’t Forget a couple of days ago and I loved it so much!

  6. Elizabeth

I LOVED Across the Universe. So good! I just read Catching the Jordan the other day in under six hours. I couldn’t put it down I was so hooked. Can’t wait to read the others! We share a couple of the same picks, like Lux!

  7. Nereyda @Mostly YA Book Obsessed

Your list made me sad. I can’t believe you haven’t read VA or Bloodline books ro Catching Jordan, or the Lux series. Those are MUSTS!
There are a few on there that I want to start reading. Arcadia Awakens, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and Cinder. Too many books on my TBR!

  8. Born Bookish

Honestly, the only one of these series that I’ve read is Cinder, and even then I haven’t read the sequel yet…
You are not the only one who hasn’t read the Lux Series, it’s pretty high on my list too!! =)

  9. Emily

Daughter of Smoke and Bone can be a bit hard to get into in parts, but overall it is exciting and beautifully written. I need to get around to the sequel soon, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this series as well as the others you mentioned.

  10. Alise (Readers In Wonderland)

You have some seriously fantastic reads to look forward to. Shadow and Bone is up there on my list of all time favorite books ever. The Fallen series was kind of iffy for me (I picked it up for the cover as well) and liked it somewhat, but they story gets repetitive.

  11. Rachel

I’ve read Shadow and Bone–really liked it–and Across the Universe and A Million Suns–I thought they were eh/okay–but that’s it! Otherwise, I want to read just about every book on this list. Thanks for sharing and stopping by!

Shadow and Bone, Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Cinder are all must reads! I really liked the Across the Universe books too.
    I didn’t love Spellbound.
    I love Miranda Keneally.
Obsidian kind of bugged me but I was intrigued enough to keep reading and fell in love.
I read the first VA book but never continued. I really need to read that series too!

This is why I listen to audio…so I’m not missing out on so many series. The audio for the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series and for the Lunar Chronicles is phenomenal…just sayin’. 🙂 And I totally agree that pubs should give us AT LEAST a month off from new releases. Even with audio, I have a hard time staying on top of things. 🙁

  14. Sierra

OMW. You’ve got a very impressive list there. Daughter of Smoke & Bone is amazing! read right away! It’s really diverse and the characters are great 🙂 Across The Universe was a great science fiction series that I felt got better with each book (also sad about the cover changes, I wanted to know what Shades Of Earth would have looked like). The Lunar Chronicles is a really good and diverse series. There are about 5 genres stuck into one series! Elemental series wise I’ve only read Storm so far. But I really liked it 🙂 There are a couple series on your list that I’ve been meaning to read too. Definitely some MUST reads up there.

  15. Jennifer Messerschmidt

You have to read Across The Universe series, Lux series, Vampire Academy series for my husband Adrian!, and the Hundred Oaks series. I am with you in needing to start the Daughter of Smoke series, Lunar series, Elemental series as well as Shadow & Bone. I think we all have a ton of series we still want to get to! LOL

  16. Ginger @ GReads!

I just read the Hundred Oaks series by Miranda Kenneally (including the new one that was just released). I wasn’t the biggest fan of Catching Jordan, but her writing got so much better as the series progressed. I really enjoyed them! Also, the Vampire Academy books are a commitment, but well worth it in my opinion!

  17. Alyssa

You’re not the only one who haven’t read Vampire Academy and Bloodline series yet. Those series has been sitting on my TBR pile for quite a long time.
