A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (32)

April 26, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Dan Krokos, Designs by Shawn, False memory, Judging a Book by its Cover 17

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“This is about a boy and girl who are running from some blue and purple pinkish lightning. If they don’t they’ll get trapped. And it is not raining. And the thing that is making the lightning is a big cloud shaped like a diamond in the sky.”

Cover Art:

He immediately picked this one off the shelf and said he really liked the cover. I agree, Shawn, I agree! I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t read this book so his description is about as good a guess as I have. I like that he made sure to mention that it is not raining! LOL I just love kids train of thought. So interesting!

“A big cloud shaped like a diamond in the sky”…made me think of that Rihanna song cause my kiddo always adds “in the sky” to the chorus. ๐Ÿ™‚ Cute description, and I love the blue and purple lightning!

This has got to be my favorite feature ever! Shane did an amazing job once again. Like Jen, the diamond in the sky part totally made me think of Rihanna! ๐Ÿ˜€
