April 9, 2013 Arclight, HarperTeen, Josin L. McQuein, Teaser Tuesday 34

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

– Grab your current read
– Open to a random page
– Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
– BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
– Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Publication Date: April 23rd by HarperTeen

From Goodreads:

No one crosses the wall of light . . . except for one girl who doesn’t remember who she is, where she came from, or how she survived. A harrowing, powerful debut thriller about finding yourself and protecting your future—no matter how short and uncertain it may be.

The Arclight is the last defense. The Fade can’t get in. Outside the Arclight’s border of high-powered beams is the Dark. And between the Light and the Dark is the Grey, a narrow, barren no-man’s-land. That’s where the rescue team finds Marina, a lone teenage girl with no memory of the horrors she faced or the family she lost. Marina is the only person who has ever survived an encounter with the Fade. She’s the first hope humanity has had in generations, but she could also be the catalyst for their final destruction. Because the Fade will stop at nothing to get her back. Marina knows it. Tobin, who’s determined to take his revenge on the Fade, knows it. Anne-Marie, who just wishes it were all over, knows it.

When one of the Fade infiltrates the Arclight and Marina recognizes it, she will begin to unlock secrets she didn’t even know she had. Who will Marina become? Who can she never be again?

The Teaser:

The room goes still, folded into another held breath until a new nightmare emerges with the sound of cracking glass that says they’re breaking through.
    The Arclight’s falling.     pg. 18

Did you see what page I said that was from? Yeah, we jump right into the action and it hooked me right away! I’m almost halfway through so far and loving it!

Sounds like it starts out pretty awesomely! I have heard mixed opinions on this one but I’m going to keep onto my hope that it will be epic!

OMG, this book is so good. I hope to have my review up on Thursday. I liked that it was more sci-fi than dystopian…and that it was sooo freaking creepy in the beginning. It was a little predictable, but I found that I didn’t care…the writing was just sooo good. 🙂 Hope you’re really enjoying it…and I really wish I’d read Taken and Arclight in this order. 🙁

Oh wow that is some amazing writing! I first felt a little undecided about this book but I’ve read some great reviews so far 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of it!

Exciting! I’ve been following the author’s blog since she signed on with an agent. Now the book is finally (almost) here. I’ll have to add this to my list.
