A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (34)

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“This is about someone who is under lights and the lights are very colorful. And then she goes inside this house with more lights. The lights are lit by candles. And then more people come and they see a cake on the table and they try to find someone to say they can have some cake. If they say no they might stay and celebrate because it’s someone’s birthday.”

Cover Art:

This one just arrived in the mail this week and he knew right away that he wanted to pick it for this week’s post. I have no idea where the birthday cake and candles came from. lol

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! πŸ™‚

Aww I love how Shawn decided to incorporate candles into this story. I wouldn’t have even considered how an important part they would play! Wonderful post Shawn! πŸ™‚

Cute! This book’s cover is just begging for a child’s interpretation. I think Katie’s was about rainbows and colored rain. πŸ™‚ We had planned to do a post this week, but we forgot, plus, she was ruHEALLY cranky this week for some reason. Probably had something to do with not being able to play outside. πŸ˜›

Oh my gosh, Shawn’s description is hilarious! I like how we go from lights to candles to birthday cake, to trying to see if we can have a slice. That would be my thought process too. πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing, this was a really cute one!

That description is too cute! I love how he came up with a cake on the table from some colorful lights. haha
