A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (37)

May 31, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Dawn Metcalf, Designs by Shawn, Indelible, Judging a Book by its Cover 22

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

Indelible is about somebody who is holding a flower that looks like fire, a fire flower. Then they were walking with it and dropped it. Somebody else found it and brought it home to keep it.”

Cover Art:

This one just arrived yesterday for an ARC tour and Shawn snatched it up for today’s post! That cover is simply gorgeous! I love how he drew the rose. πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! πŸ™‚

Another awesome post by Shawn! I love how he’s got the idea of it being a fire flower, it totally looks like one! Thanks for sharing another fab post with us Sara and Shawn! πŸ™‚

    I love these posts.

But I think my 3 and a half – year – old daughter is too young for this. Or maybe I should just try it out.

A fire flower…I immediately thought of Super Mario Bros. πŸ˜› Love how Shawn always fills every bit of space with color! Another lovely drawing!

The cover for Indelible is lovely (I hope the inside is just as good!)
Aww, the rose Shawn drew is pretty. What a great feature idea. πŸ™‚
