Seriously, that’s me. About a month after I started blogging last year, I was bumming because no author events or signings seem to happen in my little area of New York. But google was my friend that day because I came across a website for the Rochester Teen Book Festival and I literally flailed all over! Luckily, I had caught it about 3 weeks beforehand, so i didn’t miss it. I would have been a depressed mess otherwise. The best part, it’s annual! So I would have something to look forward to every year!
I’m not going to go into too many details right now because I’ll do all that next week in a recap. But basically there are around 30 authors and illustrators who attend, getting bigger each year, in my opinion. There are games, raffles, and a bookstore to purchase books by these authors too. Then the authors break off into groups, or even some go solo, and they discuss… well, anything really. The ones I went to last year talked about their books, their methods to writing, their life, etc. (You can find last year’s recap HERE and HERE). Then at the end, you can stand in lines for autographs!
The event runs from 8:45AM to 5PM. Last year I went by myself and got there late, so this time I’ll be going earlier, for almost the whole event. AND I may be
dragging taking my mom along. Why? Well, I have A LOT of books to bring and authors to have sign them. I fear there won’t be enough time if I go at it alone. My mom will have fun, I know it. 🙂
So this is what I’m bringing:
So… yeah. Guess I should bring a suitcase to lug all of these around? And that’s just what I already have! I plan on buying a couple books there also, for me and for my Blogoversary winners. The small stack on the right consists of ARCs. The plan is IF I have enough time, to get those signed for a future giveaway or two, but we’ll see!
I know you are probably trying to figure out the authors from the pic, so here’s the list of authors attending:
*Margaret Stohl was scheduled to come as well but had to decline last minute. She’s been added to the roster for 2014 though!
I honestly wish I had enough time and money to meet all of these authors and buy their books, but I have to pick and choose. I’m trying to figure out my schedule for the day, but I’m feeling sad I won’t get to see everyone. BUT, there is still the opening session where I believe they all get to talk, so I’ll be holding onto that.
I am terribly shy in person, so hopefully I can say more than ‘hi’ to the authors. That’s all I could muster last year. They’re celebrities in my eyes, so I’ll probably freeze up and turn bright red. lol
If anyone else is in the area and plans on attending, let me know! I will be meeting Ashley @ Book Labyrinth there. 🙂
