Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!
“Icons is about 9 buildings in the city and a lightning comes down and strikes into the middle of a tower and the tower broke. And then somebody moved into the house that was broken so they could fix it and live there.”
Sorry for the lack of post last Friday. Strep throat decided to run its course through our house. Good times. But it is now summer vacation! Shawn finished 1st grade and is officially a 2nd grader!
I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!
Don’t forget to let us know what you think! π

Oh I love the blue color that Shawn used better than the one on the cover π I like his idea cause I have no idea what’s this book about π
Becca
Love this one, especially the descriptions which get more and more creative and imaginative! Congrats on Shawn’s graduation to second grade! And the Google artwork today reminded me its the first day of summer too *happy dance*
Lauren Elizabeth
I love this, and his description is so creative! I love that he counted the buildings too, that’s so cute! Congrats to you both on making it to second grade (the parents get to share in the victory too, right?) π
Jennifer Messerschmidt
Very descriptive this time! The drawing is great too! It looks about exactly what I would draw lol
Sunny Duvall
Love the picture! And aw, congrats on him moving on up π
Alise (Readers In Wonderland)
So cute! I agree about the descriptions, quite an imagination. I can’t believe this is almost your 40th A Kid’s Perspective!
On a side note, strep is the absolute worst. Enjoy the summer!

Hee! This is adorable & the drawing is spot on! π Love it.

Yep, the first few years that a kid is at school are all about recurring strep throat.
Love his drawing and thoughts, as always π
Glad everyone is feeling betterβ¦..

Dude, I remember having strep throat four times between third and fourth grade. It is not fun. Glad to hear you’re feeling better and that your lil guy is moving up! (Not that there was any doubt with his awesome artistic abilities and that wonderful imagination of his. :D)
