A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (41)

July 12, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer, Scarlet 24

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“I think it’s about a girl running away from people. And the people are trying to get her cape because the girl stole it.”

I’m running a little late with this post today. With it being summer, there is a possibility I won’t get one of these posts up each week. But we’ll try!

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! πŸ™‚

As always Shawn has a great idea about the book. As I know what this book is about I believe that Shawn has a really good idea. Great post πŸ™‚

Great guess, Shawn! And I love how he captured all of those colors from the cover. πŸ™‚ And no worries…I only post one when I can corral my Katie into drawing one for me…okay, there might be some bribing involved. πŸ˜›

<3 Love this one. I still need to read Scarlet. I think I may skip Cinder (breaking the rules!) bc people seem to adore Scarlet more. Great book choice for Shawn to draw :)

Aww! That is the cutest thing ever! πŸ™‚ I need to have one of my friend’s kids do a cover for me one of these days. And his explanation of what’s on the cover is also really well thought out.
    Kids are so imaginative!
