A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By It’s Cover (44)

August 2, 2013 Book Covers, Champion, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Legend, Marie Lu 25

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“It is about a flower with red on top and black and white swirls and someone comes and takes it. The she walks away and puts it in her home and waters it. After she waters it she sits on the couch and watches tv and goes to bed. Then she woke up and looked at the flower and it grew.”

It almost looks like an apple. lol love it! Back in November,Β Shawn also shared his thoughts on the Legend and Prodigy covers so I was excited to see what he’d think of this one!

I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! πŸ™‚

Love it! And I think I’m glad he didn’t notice the bullet hole. πŸ˜› Um, should I be jealous that you have this? I mean, DO YOU HAVE THIS? ‘Cause I see some serious harassing in your future if so. πŸ˜›

“After she waters it she sits on the couch and watches tv and goes to bed.”

Aww! That is just so adorable! πŸ™‚ Kids have such great imagination.
I was curious as to whether he would see the gun shot hole when I saw that you had chosen Champion as the cover. I’m happy to see that he didn’t though. I prefer his innocent version much much better than what will happen in the book! πŸ™‚

Oh wow this so cute and such an awesome feature. It’s always fun to see what the little ones think I love his artwork, I might join in on this one next week I’ve got a little seven year old with a crazy imagination so should be fun.

So cool to see all three of his drawings for this series! I absolutely love Champion’s cover. I think it may be the prettiest of the bunch.

HAHA My best guess would be that it is about a flower too but kids have such great imaginations. She watered it then watched tv and then went to bed and it grew! LOL So cute!
