A Kid’s Perspective: Judging a Book By Its Cover (46)

August 16, 2013 Book Covers, Cover Art, Designs by Shawn, Judging a Book by its Cover, Lisa M. Stasse, The Forsaken 13

Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

“I think it’s about a spaceship that landed on earth and a girl came out of the spaceship. And then the girl was looking for a home to live in because her other home was on a different planet.”

Cover Art:

I’ve noticed he doesn’t really see profiles, which is quite interesting. I love his thoughts on what the book was about. He really was excited about a spaceship being involved. I’m dying to read this one and see if there are any parallels. :)I hope you enjoyed Shawn’s thoughts and artwork this week! Since a couple other blogs have expressed interest in doing something similar, I have decided to add a linky tool, so that you can also check out what they are doing as well! I hope you will give them a look see!

Don’t forget to let us know what you think! 🙂

“Because her other home was on a different planet.” Love it. I don’t think Katie sees profiles either. But she does know what a silhouette is. Go figure. 🙂

This is such a cool meme! I love seeing the creativity of kids! And this book sounds pretty awesome. I haven’t been able to read it yet though. Have you read it?

Aww once again such a cute summary by Shawn, I really like how he’s gone all out on getting all the different colours into the cover, he’s done such a great job! 🙂

So cute! I love this meme 🙂 This cover is seriously one of my all-time favorites. It just reminds me I need to get a copy for the bookshelf, lol! Thanks for sharing.

I love that he pegged this is a sci-fi book! (It is sci-fi, right? Now I can’t remember lol) Great drawing this week too 😀
