Bad boy, meet bad girl.

Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.

When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.

With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.

Dante Walker is back!

I must say, Dante had me hook, line and sinker once again! I was literally laughing out loud on page 2! He is exactly why these sarcastic, arrogant and cocky characters can be my favorite, because they never fail to entertain.

As a liberator, I must say, Dante has not lost his spunk! He still fights authority and doesn’t let it keep him from his wicked ways that he was so accustomed to as a collector (my review of The Collector). Not entirely ready or comfortable to embrace his new status, he suddenly seems a little unsure of himself, and I liked seeing that side of him. Made him a little more relatable.  He had a lot of inner demons to work through.

Now that I’m finally here, I’m not sure how to proceed. This girl’s obviously got some issues, and I guess my job is to reel her in and show her how to live right. I have no idea how to do that when I can’t figure out how to do that myself.

He is sent on his first assignment, to liberate the soul of a girl named Aspen. If you are afraid of a love triangle developing here, have no fear. Dante is all about our Charlie still. Their relationship continues to grow and I’m proud of the man Dante has become since the first book. Gone are his superficial ways. The love and protectiveness he has for Charlie is so sweet!

“You are breathtaking, Charlie. You are stunning now, you know that. But you were stunning before, too. Not everybody could see it, but sometimes that can make a girl so much more appealing. The beauty who doesn’t know she’s beautiful. The girl everyone seems to ignore, but to the right person she’s like this… like this beam of light. You were a beam of light, Charlie,” I say. “I’m just sorry it took me so long to see it.”

And anyways, Aspen has eyes for someone else… *zips lips* So Dante meets this girl, his new job, and they really hit it off as friends. She is a fighter, in all sense of the word, and also has a little spunk too. The two of them really make a great team. And it appears Aspen, like Charlie, may play an important role in this upcoming war between heaven and hell.

There are all sorts of new dangers surrounding our favorite group. Charlie’s soul remains unsafe. Sirens, humans working for the collectors, are at every turn, working hard to destroy her. And let’s not forget to mention the crazy and action packed trip to hell! These scenes were my absolute favorite! Giant bears, fire, demons and moving walls all made the trip completely insane and exciting. Revelations are made about this upcoming war by the end which have me completely excited for what the next book may bring us!

The Liberator sets us up beautifully for what just might be an epic finale filled with action and suspense! I’m not sure if the title for the third book has been revealed yet, but I have a good feeling I know what it might be!

Dante is so much fun and had me laughing too! I love how sweet he is with Charlie and was happy to see their relationship continue to develop well. It got pretty hot too! Loved Aspen and I also like who she likes… 😉 Loved the trip to hell too! I am so claustrophobic so I would have had a hard time with the room that gets smaller and I would have hated the snakes.

I’m glad to see that your move to WP went by smoothly, Sara! 🙂

I really liked this book too. I thought it was a lot better than the first book and although I liked Dante from the first book itself, I liked his growth so much more in The Liberator.
I’m excited for the last book too and I think we both have the same idea of what the next book’s title will be! 😉

    Lovely review, Sara!
