The explosive finale to Marie Lu’s New York Times bestselling LEGEND trilogy—perfect for fans of THE HUNGER GAMES and DIVERGENT!
He is a Legend.
She is a Prodigy.
Who will be Champion?
June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps Elect while Day has been assigned a high level military position. But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them once again. Just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything he has. With heart-pounding action and suspense, Marie Lu’s bestselling trilogy draws to a stunning conclusion.
I will keep this short and sweet. If you have not started this series, I STRONGLY recommend it, especially if you are a fan of Dystopians. I have absolutely loved the genre and so many series within have become all-time favorites. But when I look at these books (The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc), I can honestly say the Legend series has been the most consistent with amazing storytelling that I adored from start to finish.
Champion was basically everything I was hoping for. This review will remain spoiler free, but for those of you who’ve read Prodigy, the second installment, we were left with quite the ending that really had me scared and nervous as to what to expect from this finale. And what I found was perfection. There is consistent world building that didn’t overwhelm me. There was angst, heartache, & lots of tears without leaving me completely gutted. It felt completely plausible and believable for this world. The character development continued to grow and all aspects of the story wrapped up very nicely. And my god the swoons! Day has my heart. <3
“You drive me insane, June,” he murmurs against my hair. “You’re the scariest, most clever, bravest person I know, and sometimes I can’t catch my breath because I’m trying so hard to keep up. There will never be another like you. You realize that, don’t you?” I tilt my face up to see him. His eyes reflect the faint lights from the JumboTrons, a rainbow of evening colors. “Billions of people will come and go in this world,” he says softly, “but there will never be another like you.”
I could go on and on about all these fascinating new ideas and awesome action events that took place with both these kick ass characters but I will leave that for you to discover for yourself. If you have already started the books, I implore you to pick up this final installment. You will not be disappointed.
