From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane
The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.
Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.
But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.
I'm not entirely sure how to express my love for Isaiah before and after reading this third installment in the Pushing the Limits series. After the way things were for him in Dare You To, I was desperate for this book and his happily ever after!
Coming off the heartbreak of losing Beth with whom he thought he was in love with, Isaiah is a little down at the beginning of the novel. We learn more about his past and how he ended up in the foster care system as his mom makes a sudden reappearance in his life. We also learn about his current situation, living with Noah in a hole in the wall apartment, even though he should still be in foster care. And AHHHH his tattoos, guys, his tattoos! Of course there is his love for cars as well. At a street race, he meets Rachel.
Rachel also loves cars but tries to hide who she is at home due to the expectations of her family. Her family life only appears great on the outside but underneath Rachel is fighting to be her own person. She has 4 older brothers, so you can imagine how protective they are of their baby sister, but they don't seem to really see her, much like her parents. She suffers from severe anxiety and panic attacks that she tries to hide but it has been enough to sort of keep her a recluse at school. But she was incredibly adorable, so innocent and often naive, but not in an annoying way. I was initially super excited about this family life. I love stories with big families. But ugh, her family pissed me off like no other, especially her parents. They treated her like a secondary replacement and they didn't see anything wrong with that. Not. Cool. There were two brothers that weren't quite as bad. One of which, West, will be getting his own story in the next installment, Take Me On!
So they meet and suddenly find themselves in trouble, desperate for money. This is where we get a lot into cars and racing, and where these two find so much more in each other. Gah, I absolutely loved them together! Isaiah… omg you guys, he kills me dead. He wants to take care of her but learns when to step back and let her take care of herself. He's protective and just so damn perfect, everything I knew he would be. They had some seriously chemistry. Whether it be as simple as telling her he'd take care of her and her car when they first meet or asking to kiss her… I just melt. Of course there are some hot scenes too.
“You can't ignore me, Rachel, and you can try to treat me as a friend, but none of that will erase the fact that I think about kissing you every second I'm awake and dream at night of my hands on your body. And it sure as hell won't erase that I'm terrified by how much I like you.”
Tingles and shock waves and earthquakes and hurricanes. All of it takes place at the same time as our mouths move not nearly fast enough. Nothing seems fast enough. The closer I become, the closer Isaiah presses, and the more he presses, the more I want to crawl inside and live in this delicious world of warmth and fantastic hunger.
Welp. *fans self* There's action and excitement, and honest to god moments when my jaw dropped. It's about learning to let others in and accepting help when needed. If you are hoping to see a reappearance of our beloved favorites in the first two books, trust me, they're there! If fact, I think we get more Noah and Echo this time than we did in Dare You To. Of course Beth and Ryan show up as well. We also get more Logan, Ryan's friend, who almost seems to hit it off with Isaiah's friend, Abby. Can we get a book for them too, pretty please?
Crash into You was everything I was expecting and more! Fans of this series will not be disappointed!
