The earth-shattering conclusion to Veronica Rossi's "masterpiece" Under the Never Sky trilogy and sequel to the New York Timesbestselling Through the Ever Night (Examiner.com).
Their love and their leadership have been tested. Now it's time for Perry and Aria to unite the Dwellers and the Outsiders in one last desperate attempt to bring balance to their world.
The race to the Still Blue has reached a stalemate. Aria and Perry are determined to find this last safe-haven from the Aether storms before Sable and Hess do-and they are just as determined to stay together.
Meanwhile, time is running out to rescue Cinder, who was abducted by Hess and Sable for his unique abilities. And when Roar returns to camp, he is so furious with Perry that he won't even look at him, and Perry begins to feel like they have already lost.
Out of options, Perry and Aria assemble a team to mount an impossible rescue mission-because Cinder isn't just the key to unlocking the Still Blue and their only hope for survival, he's also their friend. And in a dying world, the bonds between people are what matter most.
In this final book in her stunning Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi raises the stakes to their absolute limit and brings her epic love story to an unforgettable close.
I can still remember how this series first entered my life… one day back in the fall of 2011 (whoa!) I was on twitter when I noticed a giveaway tweeted into my timeline from HarperTeen for an ARC of Under the Never Sky (my review). I had never heard of it before but I looked it up on Goodreads and the cover was super gorgeous! So I entered and somehow won! I am forever grateful I spotted that giveaway because this series has been one of my favorites ever since. It’s hard to believe it has come time to say goodbye to these characters but I can honestly say the journey was amazing from start to finish!
I really don’t like to say too much on a series finale before it has been released because I know how much I hate spoilers and I wouldn’t want to do that to anyone. But what I can tell you is that if you have been a fan of the previous books, you will not be disappointed! Both Aria and Perry continue to shine and show their amazing selves to us. Their love for each other is so sweet. There are all these beautiful moments between the two sprinkled into the action and suspense, like putting a hand to their heart as they leave each other… I swooned every time! This series had the perfect blend of romance into the storytelling and not many books can pull it off as seamlessly as Veronica Rossi has with these two.
He leaned down, bracing his arms on either side of her, his lips soft as they kissed a trail from her mouth to her ear. “What I was trying to say,” he whispered, “is that I see you in everything. There isn’t a word for you that means enough, because you’re everything to me.”
All our favorite secondary characters shined as well – Roar and Cinder being among my favorites once again. And boy did they both break my heart at times. The Perry and Roar dynamic takes an interesting turn after the events that occurred in Through the Ever Night (my review). They obviously have many things to work through. And of course the wonderful friendship Aria shared with Roar remains strong and beautiful as well. It can be rare to find a boy/girl platonic friendship as strong as theirs in a YA novel and I appreciate how well it was written. We also got a lot more of Soren, who was quite the surprise for me. He added a bit of humor and really fit into the main storyline flawlessly.
The plot sucked me in right away and did not let go until the very last word. Loose ends were tied up and the book ended just the way it was meant to. I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time crying during finale books and Into the Still Blue was no different. But I think the tears were primarily the happy and bittersweet kind. If you have yet to start this series, I highly recommend you give it a chance!
