Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...
It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.
But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...
Welcome to day 2 of Vampire Academy Week at Forever 17 Books!

I was originally planning on just reading Vampire Academy and taking a break with a few other books before returning to the series. Yeah, that didn’t happen. lol I immediately picked up my copy of Frostbite and continued right on with the series to find out what would happen to our characters next!
So what did I think of this sequel? Loved it of course! The action kicked up a bit as St. Vladimir’s Academy is on high alert when a string of Strigoi attacks on royal Moroi families start to occur. It’s definitely not just the action that kicks up but the drama too! The unresolved sexual tension between Rose and Dimitri somehow gets even more intense as they both struggle to ignore their feelings and move on. New characters come into the mix and no one more amazing and swoon-worthy as Adrian Ivashkov. He entered the scene when I least expected it. I had heard of him before but didn’t expect to love him as much as I did. He was the biggest flirt and I about died whenever he said, “Hey, little dhampir”. He’s sort of the mysterious smoking and drinking bad boy you want to get to know and discover all their secrets.
The last half of the book had me so on the edge of my seat I was practically falling off! So much was happening and all of it intense. I found myself getting a bit emotional even, for reasons. Rose seriously develops into quite the force to be reckoned with in all aspects of her life. My love for the series grew and grew with this much darker sequel and cemented my attachment to the world and characters. Again, I can’t recommend this series enough!

Check out my review of Vampire Academy if you missed it! It comes with a GIVEAWAY!

Ah, Adrian Ivashkov. *swoons* I totally loved him, his charm and his humor. And Rose was definitely badass in all the Vampire Academy books. 😉

Yay! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying this series, Sara. It’s one of my all-time favorites for sure. It only gets better from here. Have you already read the whole series? If not, the next book will break your heart! Prepare for the feels! It’s all worth it in the end though.
Adrian was adorable, but I just didn’t like him in VA. I wanted him far far away from Dimitri and Rose. 😛 I do love him in the Bloodlines series though. 😉

I binge read the entire series after Christmas! I know what you mean about the next book… I liked Adrian a lot but I never really felt threatened by his presence in the romance area. Maybe because I knew he’d be in the next series already? I was confident in my Rose/Dimitri ship. lol

I’m so glad you are enjoying this series. I did once upon a time, but I’m not sure how would I feel if I read it now. Anyhow great review 🙂

This was actually the first VA book I read. I don’t know why, but I read this one without knowing about the first. I think that’s part of the reason why I’m such a huge Adrian fan. He was adorable and perfect. I read VA later, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Frostbite. I’m glad you enjoyed it too.
Plus, ADRIAN <3

I didn’t love the first book and never got back to it. I should though because I know a lot of people that said it gets better.

ADRIAN!! This is the single reason why I hope the VA movie does well enough to get at least to movie #2 because I want to see Adrian onscreen. 🙂 That last half and the ending are out of control intense! Hope you enjoy the next one. Fab review!
