My vision was growing dimmer, the blackness and ghosts closing in. I swore it was like I could hear Robert whispering in my ear: The world of the dead won't give you up a second time. Just before the light completely vanished, I saw Dimitri's face join Lissa's. I wanted to smile. I decided then that if the two people I loved most were safe, I could leave this world.

The dead could finally have me.

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir's Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardians to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose - for a crime she didn't even commit. She's in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She'll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose's life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back...and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your whole life is about saving others, who will save you?

Join Rose, Dimitri, Adrian, and Lissa in Last Sacrifice, the epic, unforgettable finale to Richelle Mead's international #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series.

Welcome to Day 6 of Vampire Academy week at Forever 17 Books!

MY BOX SET FINALLY ARRIVED! And just in time to read the last book. lol But it felt so good to have all the books in my hands, finally!

How do I even start this review? I have no idea. I’ve been sitting here, staring at my computer for ages trying to think of the words because this was it, then end. The end of a fun adventure I had the pleasure of taking on with a set of characters I was not ready to let go of.

So much needed to be wrapped up in this final installment and Richelle Mead did it beautifully while still managing to add new dilemmas to the mix. Rose finds herself in trouble with the law for a crime she didn’t commit and with the help of her friends, she goes off on a journey for truths that could not only help the Moroi world, but clear her name as well. What she discovered was so much more.

The love triangle is in full force and probably the most intense in Last Sacrifice. When both guys are utterly amazing, it is so hard. But like I said before, I stood firm for my Rose and Dimitri pairing but not without a lack of heartbreak for Adrian. What helped get me through it was knowing he’d be around for the spin-off series, Bloodlines, no matter what happened. Though really, how much of a triangle is it when you know where the main character’s heart was the entire time?

Swoons, action, surprises, and just all around fantastic characters brought this series to a close and left me feeling bittersweet and empty. What do you do when you read six books that you got completely lost in for a week and then finished? It was hard to move on after that. I just wanted that high I got from reading something so exciting that grabbed on to me so tight and wouldn’t let go. Something that I never wanted to put down. Something just like Vampire Academy. I am so incredibly thankful to all those who got on my case to read this series because it will go down as one of my favorites of all time. So again, what do you do next? Well, I look to the future and reading Bloodlines! I won’t be starting them just yet because I want to enjoy the high of getting lost in a series without a long wait in between each book, but they will be coming my way this summer!

Is it too soon to re-read? 😉

So glad you loved the series, I loved it too! I’ve actually read it a couple of times and it made it so great that there was Bloodlines. I felt the same way, I never saw this as a true triangle because you always knew who Rose loved, and to be honest, I was not a big Adrian fan, but that changes completely in Bloodlines. Love him in that series.
