Don’t worry, I have never read any Jane Austen either! I read a few pages of Pride and Prejudice a few years ago but wasn’t interested. I will try again one day though.

The Lux series, for me, took about a day (a few hours) to read each of them. They are pretty exciting all the way through. Origin was amazing! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is just a beautiful story. Laini Taylor is fantastic. Me Before You sucked me in with great writing, but I didn’t love it. I haven’t read any of the others, but Grave Mercy is at the top of my list. It sounds like a fun story.

I’m always feeling left out with books too, it’s okay! I haven’t read The Lunar Chronicles, The Lux Series, Vampire Academy, Bloodlines, Shatter Me series, Chaos Walking, I mean, I could go on forever, but I find the hype ruins the book for me if it’s not actually that good. You should never worry about what books everyone else has read and you haven’t, read what you want, when you want, and review what you want, don’t feel pressured by anyone 😀

Love your Top Ten choice and wish I had chosen that one! I have so many I haven’t read that I feel like everyone has, including the majority of your list. The only ones I had read on their are: The Lunar Chronicles, Sarah Dessen reads, and Jane Austen.

Lunar Chronicles is really good if you get a chance to read them, I wasn’t sure at first but my friend forced me to try the first. I really like Sarah Dessen so I’m a bit biased, but Along for the Ride wasn’t one of her most popular reads I’d give another one a try (Lock and Key, This Lullaby, The Truth About Forever). As to Jane Austen, I think like all classics they can be hard to get into – hers are my favorite of the classics though.

Thanks for sharing and have a great week :)

Woah!!! I can definitely see why you feel like everyone’s talking about some of those books, the fandom for Throne of Glass, Lunar Chronicles and Bloodlines is massive. I only recently read Throne of Glass and a Sarah Dessen book and luckily, those raves were justified :) Hope you do pick them up soon, they are fantastic reads.

There are some books that everyone’s read but me too like the Unearthly series, the Everneath series and some other fantasy books.

Bloodlines is a lot weaker than the VA series, but it does get better. I’m waiting for the whole series to come out before reading it because of cliffhangers and such.
Oh you must try the Throne of Glass series. I adore that series with a passion and I think you would too. Also, Grave Mercy! I love love love that series. It’s most definitely the series for everyone especially since it’s heavy on the politics, but I highly recommend at least trying it.
And the Lunar Chronicles is a must. I think you will love those books.

I started the Lux series, but then gave up at book 3 when things started to get ridiculous. I mean, I like J.L.A, but this series is not my favorite. Have you read the Covenant series? I think you’ll like that one better since it’s so much like VA (at least the first book).

    Great post, Sara!

Well I’ve already bugged you too much about Bloodline so I’ll skip that one….
I have books one and two of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone books but also haven’t read them.
I read and loved books one and two in the Lux series but lost interest because of the cliffies…
I’m FINALLY listening to the audio of Cinder and it’s AMAZING! Love it! Hope you read it soon. (my daughter listens to it with me and she really likes it too)
Throne of Glass is epic, such a good love triangle and I don’t even like fantasy books OR love triangles!
I really liked Grave Mercy even though I hate historicals…but you know me and my killer books…
Hopeless…ugh…so many emotions and feels! It’s so good. I didn’t know you read the Slammed books.
I haven’t read any books by sarah dessen…

You are SO not alone in these. I’ve read almost every Sarah Dessen, but that’s because I basically worship her as an author. And I’ve read The Lunar Chronicles and Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I haven’t read the rest! I totally understand how you feel though. SO many bloggers have read these books. I’ve never read Jane Austen, either. I tried once, and I got so incredibly bored. Sometimes I feel like a black sheep for that, but I don’t really care overall haha.

You have three of my favorite series there, namely: Lunar Chronicles, Throne of glass & His fair assassin :) What I love about Lunar is the unique approach of the fairy tales, the way the plot is unfolding and the awesome characters. TOG has all the feelings with an awesome chemistry and great characters. HFA has historical fiction, a good cast and a very interesting plot. I do hope you give these series a chance some day!

There are too many books and not enough time to read them all!! I’ve only read two of the series you mentioned, all of the Lux Series and the first of the Lunar Chronicles (honestly, I think these are over hyped). As for Jane Austen, I’ve only ever read Pride & Prejudice. I’ve seen all the movies like 100 times each but I have such a hard time getting into the books, haha.

I haven’t read a few of those books either, including Bloodlines, Jane Austen, Anything Colleen Hoover & only the first books for the Lux series.

I do love the His Fair Assassin & Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. The Lunar Chronicles is hit or miss with each book.

I am so with you when it comes to Bloodlines. I’m on Last Sacrifice right now so I was even behind on reading Vampire Academy. And don’t even get me started on the Lux series – I don’t even own the first book. I’m pathetic. But His Fair Assassin is SUCH an amazing series!

  12. Stephanie

You and i have the pretty much same list except for the Jojo Moyes book. Read that now. The Lux books, I read one and it was Twilight with aliens. Just pretend you’ve read it. Hopeless? Ugh. One of the worst, most contrived story lines and insta love in any book ever in the history of books- he calls her Baby after the first kiss… Um, no.

And in my defense, I tried reading Wuthering Heights, but it was soooo boring that I couldn’t get passed the first page.

  13. Andreea

I have read Jane Austen’s novels because before I had my YA blog, I used to read almost only classics and historical fiction. Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors.

I haven’t read Bloodlines because I still need to finish VA but once I finish it, I will surely pick up this spin off series.

I haven’t read Grave Mercy, Sarah Dessen’s books, Hopeless, Throne of Glass either, so don’t worry. And Daughter of Smoke and Bone was the only book in the series that I’ve read.

I have read Cinder and Scarlet and they really are awesome and deserve all the hype.

The Lux series is great too. I almost gave up on it because the first book was just okay, but the series gets better with each book and Origin is just awesome. Can’t wait to read the last one in this series and I will also start Jennifer’s other series too!

    Great post!

I haven’t ready ANYTHING by JLA yet. I have her newest book for review, though. I actually have the first book in the Lux series on my now-deceased Nook, so I guess I’ll have to pick that one up again at some point so I can finally start the series.

If I could tell you to pick up any of those now, though, it would be The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. There are just some really unbelievable characters in that story and fascinating world-building to boot.

I have not read the Bloodlines series either. I’m not a big fan of spin off anythings in general but I do want to eventually give it a try if only bc I loved Adrian in the VA series. And I also haven’t read Me Before You but I have been seeing reviews recently that made me bump it up on my TBR list! You so have to read the Cinder series, though!!

I love Sarah Dessen books. And yes they are a bit sweet-cute kinds but make for good reads in Summer time and cover some very major teen issues in them. I have read Vampire Academy series and only because one of my Goodreads friend recommended it to me and thank God for that because I ended up loving that series. I keep hearing about all these amazing series which you mentioned above but haven’t really had the chance to read them. I look forward to reading the Lunar Chronicles this year though because that series has gotten a very high recommendation!

I haven’t read any of those except for the Lunar Chronicles (which are AMAZING) and one or two Sarah Dessen books so you aren’t alone!
