The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

The first words that came to mind when I finished reading Boomerang was ‘what a breath of fresh air’! In a sea of New Adult novels that blend together with similar premises of angst and sex, Boomerang stood on its own and delivered with a fun and exciting storyline that captured my attention and heart!
The novel starts right off with the aftermath of a drunken hookup between strangers Mia and Ethan, that neither seem to remember. It was quite the awkward morning but also very playful as they even search for missing undergarments throughout the apartment. I may have giggled out loud during this. lol The connection these two had was obvious right away but of course it couldn’t be that easy from the get-go, right? Both soon find out their new internship is at the same company, not only pitting them against each other for a future within the company, but also making the chance at a relationship not possible. Uh oh! A recipe for disaster, in the best ways!
Ethan was not your typical New Adult bad boy with a mysterious past, but a real great guy with the biggest heart. Guys, he even coached soccer for kids in his spare time. *melts* He was so forgiving and gentle and patient. Like really, really patient. He was great at listening and reading people and I fell in love with him. His adoration for Mia from the beginning… uhh! He most definitely knew how to bring the swoons! Mia was also an amazing girl. Very determined and creative, confident for sure, but another character who had a big heart, especially for her grandmother (awesome family dynamic FOR THE WIN). These two were made for each other! And trust, the UST was coming out their ears!
When I first read the premise I immediately thought it was going to be all ‘sabotage, sabotage, hot hate (but I secretly love you) sex, sabotage!’ But these two had a mature playfulness with the cards they were dealt, even finding ways to work together to showcase each others talents and strengths. They genuinely wanted good things for each other. It was a pleasant surprise. Don’t get me wrong, they also knew how to make some underhanded moves, but it wasn’t all about that or over the top. MUCH appreciated. And it was fun! This forbidden love type of romance was made even better by the fact the company they were working for was an internet dating service. Both Mia and Ethan took part in the dating service, for work research of course, with often hilarious results and also some added drama.
There was a perfect blend of sexy and sweet, drama and light-heartedness. I adored the characters, even the secondary ones, and loved the journey they took during the plot. They really showed that even through a competition, you can work together to make things great. I am beyond excited that this is a trilogy and that we will be exploring some of those secondary characters that interest me a little more (Adam!). It’s great to see something different come from the New Adult genre.
*p.s. Did I mention Veronica Rossi, author of the Under the Never Sky series, is half of the Noelle August writing team?! LOVE!
