Hey everyone! 2014 has been a huge year in books and in my life in general so I thought I’d share a little about these things with you as well as throw in a giveaway!
2014 was another excellent year in books! I started off the year strong, staying far ahead of my reading goal but alas, after the baby was born (more about that later), I just couldn’t find as much reading time as I hoped and will not meet my Goodreads goal of 85 at the end of the year. As it stands as I type this, I’ve read 67 books so far. Still pretty decent I think for how busy I have been.
What surprised me the most this year was how many older books not published in 2014 I read. It was refreshing and wonderful to go back to some of the books I’d been meaning to read for quite some time. The most prominent was from author Richelle Mead. About this time last year I started the Vampire Academy series, finishing them up in 2014, as well as reading the companion series, Bloodlines, and her adult Georgina Kincaid series. Absolutely found a new favorite author to add to my must-read list.
As for favorite reads, there were quite a few and I’m giving away a choice of one right now if anyone hasn’t checked that yet. I could spend all day talking about all the books I enjoyed but I think I’ll just touch upon the favorites of my favorites.
Made: A Sempre Novel by J.M. Darhower – One of my all-time favorite series ever and this prequel was all sorts of perfection to make me love the story that much more. Such compelling characters along with danger and excitement.
Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby – I just finished reading this one and I KNOW it’s not out until next year but even days later the story is sticking to me so much and I can’t wait for everyone to read it! The release day is scheduled for April 21st 2015 so I strongly recommend getting this one pre-ordered. My review will be up closer to publication date.
The Young Elites by Marie Lu – I was already a huge fan of Marie Lu’s Legend series and this new one was so unique and exciting! The main character is one of those where you don’t know if she is the hero or the villain. I loved that. I can’t wait to see where it goes with the sequel next year!
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson – This book is told through the POV of a pair of twins from different points in their lives and it meets up in the end and I can’t believe how well that actually worked. I fell in love with little Noah and how he’d paint the world. A very touching story.
Open Road Summer by Emery Lord – A wonderful story of friendship and romance. It was everything I hoped it would be!
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead – People talked about this series and I just never really felt the interest. SO GLAD I gave these books a chance because the series was amazing! I love being surprised and Richelle Mead did an excellent job throwing them out there. Rose was that snarky kick-ass character I like and the forbidden romance aspect was on point throughout the series.
For those of you who may have missed it or are newer to my blog, back in April I added a new little one to my family! Erin has kept me busy, busy which I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world but alas, my reading and blogging (and sleep) time have suffered quite a bit. I’m not going to let it stop me though! I read whenever I have a free minute, even if only a page or two a day. And blog when I can, even if it is scarce.
Jamberry/New Work Adventure
I recently fell in love with Jamberry Nail wraps. For those of you who don’t know what they are, Jamberry offers over 300 styles of heat-activated vinyl nail wraps that are not only non-toxic and latex free, but also last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 6 weeks on toes! They are perfect for me because I just can’t keep up with nail polish. Whenever I try they chip or get ruined within a day, I swear. Bu these are easy and fun because you can match up different designs for unique looks. There are super cute ones for kids too and I’m looking forward to my little Erin to be old enough to wear them too!
So, I’ve joined the Jamberry team and am now an Independent Consultant! This means if you are interested in checking these nail wraps out, have any questions, or wants to know more about Jamberry Nails, all you have to do is ask!

I’m not sure I have a lot of blogging goals for 2015 besides just keep on doing what I can and feeling no pressure for any more than that. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I just can’t blog as much as I once used to and it’s okay. I’m not reading all of the amazing books that come out and that’s… okay. lol I’ll get to them eventually. There was no reason to feel pressure to post a certain amount of times a week. Going into a whole new year with that mind frame is just what I need. I would like to post more of my son’s book cover artwork and thoughts. I love doing that with him and want to get back into it. I still love blogging and don’t plan on going anywhere in 2015!
