She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy...
Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
...and it’s going to be oh so good.
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
The Deal sort of snuck up on me. I honestly hadn’t heard about it until I won a copy. But once I read the synopsis I was immediately intrigued and excited to start it ASAP. I cannot be more happy that I did because this was definitely a new favorite New Adult read!
Garrett is failing a midterm, one he needs to pass to continue playing hockey. All seems hopeless until he runs into just the person who may be able to help him, Hannah. Of course Hannah doesn’t make things easy for him. She flat out refuses to tutor him, dodging his every attempt at wooing her into it, that is until he notices her crush on a football player and offers to help her get noticed.
My absolute favorite, favorite aspect of the book was the chemistry between Hannah and Garrett. Their banter was ADORABLE and pretty hilarious. The way he was all cocky and sure of himself… was just the right amount. It was like he could laugh at himself about it. And the way Hannah wasn’t buying it was just perfect. She was shy and innocent yet also had that sass to keep up with Garrett. Their friendship was fun and playful and always left me smiling. I was enjoying every moment they spent together as friends and so anxious for the ‘more’ when the sexual tension went out the roof! What was really exceptional was that their bickering and playfulness continued in the bedroom. They could take jabs at each other in the throws of passion and it felt pretty realistic. Because sometimes fun and cheekiness are all part of the romance too.
“If you stop touching me, I’ll punch you.”
There was nothing I didn’t like about this novel. Were there certain tropes we’ve seen many times before? Sure. Did I care? NOT AT ALL. Even the moments where it got a little angsty I would find little surprises thrown in to make it all okay. The romance, the humor, the swoons… all of it just made it the entire package for me. I’m so thankful for Jessica @ Lovin’ Los Libros for introducing me to this one. A must read for New Adult fans!
