Tess Kendrick, teen fixer extraordinaire, returns in a pulse-pounding thriller about a deadly conspiracy at the heart of Washington.

For Tess Kendrick, a junior at the elite Hardwicke School in Washington D.C., fixing runs in the family. But Tess has another legacy, too, one that involves power and the making of political dynasties. When Tess is asked to run a classmate's campaign for student council, she agrees. But when the candidates are children of politicians, even a high school election can involve life-shattering secrets.

Meanwhile, Tess's guardian has also taken on an impossible case, as a terrorist attack calls into doubt who can--and cannot--be trusted on Capitol Hill. Tess knows better than most that power is currency in D.C., but she's about to discover first-hand that power always comes with a price.

Perfect for fans of Harlan Coben and Ally Carter, the second book in this thrilling series will leave readers breathless.

Last year I read the first novel in this series, The Fixer, and LOVED it! It had a lot of notes similar to the tv show Scandal and I was immediately hooked and wanting more intrigue and conspiracy to feed my addiction. I can honestly say this sequel pulled out all the stops to be an amazing follow up!

Once again our main character Tess finds herself right in the middle of a mysterious scandal rocking not only her school, but the country as well. Are they connected? Well that’s for you to find out as you read. When I am reading a thriller I sometimes try to figure out what is happening and who the bad guys might be. I say sometimes because I don’t like to dwell on figuring it out myself but unravel the mystery as the characters do. The author is fantastic at the surprises she throws at the readers and characters. I never expected some of the twists and turns the plot went and it made it that much more exciting and hard to put down. I am thoroughly addicted to all the characters we meet and I enjoyed this sequel just as much, if not more, than its predecessor.

If the plot surprises weren’t enough, the romance aspect in these books continues to surprise me. I remember thinking after I finished The Fixer that I was okay with there not really being a place for romance but had hopes it may surface in this sequel. Well, like with everything else, I found myself a little shocked on the direction it took and cannot wait to see how it further evolves in the next one.

If you are looking for a fast paced thriller that’s hard to put down, I cannot recommend this series enough! The books get better and better as we go which only makes my thirst for the next one that much worse!

I just finished this one the other day and I so agree! I loved the first book and this one was just as thrilling! I was hoping to see Tess and Henry get together in this book and… yeah… I was really surprised by what happened. I actually don’t see a third book listed on Goodreads, but there seriously has to be another one because she left so much open! Have you read any of The Naturals books by Jennifer Lynn Barnes? I’ve read the first two and enjoyed them as well, though I do like The Fixer novels more.
