For those who didn’t know, I went to ALA Midwinter in Atlanta a couple weeks ago, my first time! I had a lot of fun meeting a few bloggers and grabbing a few books I can’t wait to get started on. We made it a whole big trip and my family drove down together (16 hour drive. With 3 kids. I don’t recommend it.). It was a pretty busy weekend to be in Atlanta. On Saturday they had the Women’s March going on as well as the big football game that Sunday between the Falcons and the Packers. We checked out the new World of Coca-Cola since the last time my husband and I went was many years ago at the original location.

We also hit up the Georgia Aquarium, which was something my oldest was excited for. And while standing in line to get in, Jimmy Johnson was in line behind us. Confession time, I had no idea who he was. I don’t watch football! But my husband and mother in law were pretty excited about it. Obviously he was in town for the Championship game though I’m not quite sure why he stopped at the Aquarium. He mentioned he was meeting Terry Bradshaw there.

The Georgia Aquarium was gorgeous! A must stop for anyone passing through Atlanta. I didn’t expect there to be belugas, dolphins or whale sharks but they were magnificent to see. The place is huge and my kids claimed that day was the best day of their lives. Nothing is better than hearing that.

And then there was ALA (one of my favorite days)! I must admit I had no idea what I was doing at first. I definitely think it is one of those situations where once you’ve done it it is easier to plan for the next time. I discovered a lot of intriguing sounding books and grabbed quite a few myself. I met up with a few bloggers for awhile as well. I only wish I had more time to spend there. Here are the books I’m most excited for!

I hope I someday have the chance to go again and meet some of the bloggers I may have missed this time around. 🙂

I don’t know about you but I am ready for spring, despite what that groundhog said! I have not been to ALA but did visit Atlanta last summer to celebrate my granddaughter’s graduation. Wonderful trip, we swam with the whale sharks at the Aquarium, saw the tanuki at the zoo and loved the Center for Puppetry Arts and their tribute to Jim Henson.

I have to admit that I’m a little jealous you got to go to ALA. I’ve never been to any of those conventions and I would love to! I keep telling myself, “maybe next year,” but next year always comes and I still don’t go. But now that I don’t have a tiny baby anymore, I’ll finally pull up my bootstraps and just do it.

I haven’t been to any big book events. I did go to a Teen Bookfest last summer and met a lot of great authors and got some books.

I have never been to ALA or Atlanta, and there are a lot of books I’m looking forward to! Some of them published in the past!
