Inspired by an article on Babble called, Judging a Book by Its Cover: A 6-year-old Guesses What Classic Novels Are All About, I have asked my 6 year old what his thoughts are on a few Young Adult covers lying around the house. To take it a step further, I also had him make some cover art!

I had a lot of fun with my oldest child, Shawn, when he would do these posts with me years ago. Now he is 10 and has passed the reins to his little brother, Jacob! Jacob really had fun drawing the cover and wanted to do many at once so hopefully, this should be a regular occurrence on the blog. I was pretty stoked when he picked this book up to draw and share his thoughts on. I’m a huge fan of Emery Lord’s writing so I’ll be starting this one next week!

You have a natural talent on your hands. This is so adorable. I got my little sister to do her interpretation of the book cover for Altered by Jennifer Rush (minus the shirtless boy) because we entered a contest. She didn’t win but I thought it was a great job and got a twitter response from Jennifer herself, so that was pretty cool. I look forward to seeing what Jacob comes up with next.
