She’s making a list—and checking it twice. But is there a nice guy among all her naughty exes? The New York Times bestselling author of Blurred Lines returns with a charming friends-to-lovers rom-com.
When a psychic tells spunky, superstitious Kelly Byrne that she’s already met her true love, she becomes obsessed with the idea of tracking him down before Christmas. Kelly immediately writes up an “Ex List” and starts contacting old boyfriends to figure out which one is the one. When her college sweetheart rolls into town, Kelly convinces herself that they’re meant to be. The trouble is, sparks are flying with someone she’s never given a chance: her best friend, Mark.
Mark Blakely has watched the guys on Kelly’s list break her heart, and he’s not looking forward to watching them do it all over again. Mark’s always been there for her, but the timing’s never worked out for their relationship to be something more. Now, just as Mark is ready to move on, the sexual tension between them is suddenly off the charts. With Christmas morning around the corner, he just hopes Kelly will wake up and realize that everything she wants has been right in front of her all along.
I’m am so ready for the Holidays with yet another wonderful Christmas story read already this season! An Ex for Christmas was so delightful and heart warming and the perfect romance to read all bundled up by the Christmas tree!
Kelly is a strong believer in fate and the sight. I mean, she uses a Magic 8 ball quite religiously for all her big decision making. So when a psychic tells her she has already met the love of her life and she will be with him for Christmas, Kelly is determined to hunt down all of her exes and test them (think mistletoe), to see which could be the one. Of course she tries to enlist her best friend Mark to help but when this weird sexual tension builds between the two, Kelly is suddenly unsure which direction her heart is going.
Kelly is this super bubbly and chipper woman who knows who she is and doesn’t make any apologies for it. She’s so fun loving and full of life and best of all, she LOVES Christmas. I loved her instantly. On the other hand, we meet her best friend Mark who basically appears to be her opposite. Mark is quieter and a realist. He could be a little cynical at times but he was also sweet and sincere with Kelly and it was so obvious how much he cared for her. Basically he was the perfect person to balance out her upbeatness and keep her grounded. They had so much chemistry! Seriously, who knew cutting down a Christmas tree could be so sexy? The sparks flew between them and though there were moments where Kelly was infuriating, and adorably clueless, really I would just shake my head at her with a big smile on my face and root for her to realize what was right in front of her all along.
By the end I was feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, and maybe even a little bummed it was over because I didn’t want it to end. It was like the perfect Hallmark Christmas movie in book form. I already know this is one worth rereading every Christmas and look forward to it! Do yourself a favor and grab a copy!
