Monthly Wrap-Up – January

February 1, 2018 Monthly Wrap-Up 14

Welcome to 2018!

I can’t believe it is already the new year! I honestly STILL have a little of the ‘Christmas is over’ blues, no lie, and am ready to get past the dreary, gray, and cold month of January. I have decided to start posting a monthly recap now that we have entered the new year to share any new and exciting things going on (my life is pretty boring so don’t expect much) and what great books I’ve ended up with!

My husband and I have been slowly working our way through Breaking Bad for the first time, thanks to AMC having the 10th Anniversary marathon running through January. We are about halfway through and just about every episode we look at each other and say, WTF? But we love it.

I started a new blog feature called, ‘at last…’ and I’m pretty excited about it! Basically I’m trying to get rid of some of the older titles I have on my shelf. So every month I’ll pick a few and you guys can vote which one I will read and review that month. And then I will give my copy away, unless it ends up being something I can’t part with, then I will offer up a copy through The Book Depository. There was an overwhelming amount of votes for Our Chemical Hearts from the January poll so you can expect my review and the giveaway next week! Definitely check back for that and vote what I should read, review, and give away next!

So I don’t usually do a Stacking the Shelves post because I can go weeks without grabbing anything new. But January ended up being a huge book haul month. This is absolutely not the norm and I didn’t realize just how much I accumulated in January until I sat down to do this post. Most of the physical books are from visiting my local Sam’s Club that was closing. There wasn’t much left but I managed to grab a few books for next to nothing!

-The Wrong Side of Right by Jenn Marie Thorne
-Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick
-Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis
-Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
-The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (expect a giveaway for my extra copies!)
-Batman: Nightwalker (DC Icons #2) by Marie Lu

Hmmm, I see a trend with these covers. Coincidence? lol I read and reviewed both Withering Hope and Uncharted (click on the images for the links) and am currently reading Hate to Want You!

For Review

The Tombs by Deborah Schaumberg – Thank you Media Master Publicity and HarperTeen!
Nothing Left to Burn by Heather Ezell – Thank you Razorbill and Penguin Random House!

I may have gone a little crazy on Edelweiss and Netgalley in January. But man, I’m so excited about each and every one of these reads and it’s killing me that I can’t read them all at once. I have already reviewed Down by Contact (click on image for link) and I read More Than We Can Tell and absolutely loved it! My review will be live later this month.

January Reviews:

Love and Other Train Wrecks by Leah Konen – 3 stars
Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner – 4 stars
The Key to Everything by Paula Stokes – 4 stars

Markswoman by Rati Mehrotra – 3 stars

I just finished Throne of Glass #2 and feel so far behind. LOL. Love that series though. You did great! Happy February!

I love The Cruel Prince cover, and the book was pretty fun, too.

Looking forward to seeing what you think of These Rebel Waves and Sky in the Deep. 🙂

We’ve been really enjoying it! I wish we could get through it quicker. My hubby has to go to bed early during the week so the weekends after the kids go to bed are the only times we can watch and someone always ends up falling asleep. lol

I tend to stalk books for sales sometimes. lol Only kindle books, really, but once they go on sale I one click right away. Luckily I got The Wrong Side of Right through trade and hope to read it soon!
