A sexy new standalone from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.
You’d think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You’d be wrong.
For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don’t know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.
When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It’s what friends do. But what friends don’t do is rip off each others’ clothes for a single, wild night together.
Now she’s avoiding me. She says we’re too different, and it can never happen again. So why can’t we keep our hands off each other?

It had been far too long since I had read a Sarina Bowen novel! There is just something about romance novels that revolve around a sport, especially hockey, that I just can’t help but gravitate to. And Sarina Bowen knows how to do them right!
Once upon a time, Nate was a young entrepreneur, a tech genius at the very start of his future that would one day make him a billionaire. Rebecca was hired as an office manager in the early stages of his career and was by his side as not only an employee but a good friend as his business took off. Fast forward years later and Nate now owns a hockey team, the Brooklyn Bruisers, where Rebecca now works. When Rebecca gets a complication from a concussion she sustained from a fall, Nate wants to help. Long buried feelings surface and a romance brews.
It was obvious how much chemistry Nate and Rebecca had from the get go. They are both workaholics and very smart. They also share the same sense of humor and love for palindromes (I LOVED all the fun palindromes thrown in). Nate was so unbelievably caring and considerate. He’s this sexy famous billionaire but very down to earth and humble. Rebecca is sweet, thoughtful, and very dedicated to her job. They were basically perfect for each other. The romance is a slow burn since they are working off of a strong foundation of friendship and are afraid to act on their feelings at first, but when they do? *Dreamy sigh* I think it is important to note how pleased I am with how the author handled the boss/employee trope. It is very thought out and not taken lightly by the characters.
Although this is the 4th book in the Brooklyn Bruisers series, it reads as a standalone. With so many secondary characters hanging in the background I would love to go back and check out those previous stories. The author delivered yet another sweet romance and I recommend checking it out!

Hockey is definitely my favorite sport, so I love books that feature it. Thanks so much for sharing. It sounds like a really good read – and I like that the boss/employee aspect was handled well.

I’m not really a sports person but I find stories (romances) that feature hockey to be my favorite 🙂

I have been dying for this story, because Nate and Becca have been simmering since book 1. Glad you thought Bowen did their story well.

It’s been so long since I read something steamy, and I love the sound of this sweet and considerate hero! The boss/employee trope doesn’t work well with me, so I’m glad this book handled it well–I’m definitely curious now. :O Awesome review, Sara!

The boss/employee trope is done well here. It’s thought out and they acknowledge the possible issues before jumping in and I really appreciated that.

I’m glad to see that you enjoyed this book Sara, unfortunately the last book I read by Bowen I didn’t end up liking, but I’m willing to give her books another try and this one sounds like a great read! Wonderful review Sara 🙂

I’ve read a few of hers, I believe some were co-authored, but mostly enjoyed them. I’m sorry the last book you read didn’t work out for you. I hope you get a chance to check this one out though!
