‘Waiting On’ Wednesday: Through the White Wood by Jessica Leake

June 27, 2018 Waiting on Wednesday 27

**Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. **

Title: Through the White Wood
Author: Jessica Leake
Publication Date: April 9th 2019
Publisher: HarperTeen

Summary from Goodreads:

Katya’s power to freeze anything she touches has made her an outcast in her isolated village. And when she loses control of her ability, accidentally killing several villagers, she is banished to the palace of the terrifying Prince Sasha in Kiev.

At the castle, though, she is surprised to find that Sasha is just like her—with his own strange talent, the ability to summon fire. Instead of punishment, Sasha offers Katya friendship, and the chance to embrace her power rather than fear it.

But outside the walls of Kiev, Sasha’s enemies have organized their own army of people who can control the very earth. Bent on taking over the entire world, they won’t stop until they’ve destroyed everything.

Katya and Sasha are desperate to stop the encroaching army, and together their powers are a fearsome weapon. But as their enemies draw nearer, leaving destruction in their wake, will fire and frost be enough to save the world? Or will they lose everything they hold dear?

Why I Can’t Wait: Earlier this year I read Beyond a Darkened Shore by this author and really loved it! This is another standalone but I hear the main characters from Beyond a Darkened Shore will make an appearance. YAY! Besides all of that, I’m really into books with elemental magic and the MC here turns things into ice. Beyond excited to check it out!

Awesome pick! I always love a good YA fantasy. I still need to read Beyond a Darkened Shore though….too many books and not enough time!

When I started reading the description, all I could think about was Ilsa from Frozen. But I digress, I am not familiar with this book, but I like the setting, even if it’s a fantasy version of the place.

Sorry if this is a duplicate but I didn’t see the message that it was for moderation! I had comment that I love wintry powers and stories. Icy worlds are the best! Winter is coming! 🙂

What an AMAZING pick, Sara!!! LOVE it!! The plot sounds SO fascinating, and that cover is GORGEOUS!! (In fact, I’m probably going to feature it in my “Shelf Candy Saturday” meme this week, and of course I’ll link back to this post.)

I’ve already added this book to my GR shelves. Thanks for showcasing it!! 🙂 🙂
